Doris Gibson, 97, of Lyndhurst, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Augusta Nursing and Rehab, Fishersville. She was born in Charlottesville on July 15, 1920, daughter of the late Lucian Edgar Hicks and Minerva Ozella Gibson. Doris was a homemaker and family babysitter.

Her hobbies included cooking, crocheting, reading, word search and any activities involving her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jake” Gibson; four brothers, Cecil Hicks, Norman Hicks, Herman Hicks and Ollie Hicks; three sisters, Hazel Hunt, Ozella Norman and Mabel “Polly” Hicks; her son-in-law, Raymond “Dickie” Gardner and granddaughter, Tammy Lynn Clark. She is survived by her children, William “Billy” Gibson (Patty), Dorothy “Dot” Gardner and Coleman Gibson; two siblings, Alvin Hicks (Mary Ann) and Patricia Hunt (Jack); eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Sunday, July 22, 2018, NOTE THAT TIME HAS NOW BEEN CHANGED TO 3-5 P. M., at the home of her son, Billy Gibson, 69 Featherstone Drive, Lyndhurst. Share memories and condolences at www. charltonandgroomefuneralhome.com.
