Preston Elden “Squeaky” Fitzgerald, 62, of Stuarts Draft, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at his home. He was born July 25, 1956, the son of the late Jesse Fitzgerald and Nellie Virginia Clifton Fitzgerald. He was a member of Harvest Church International, Waynesboro.

A jack of all trades, he liked working on race cars and motors of all kinds and liked playing the guitar. The family would like to express special appreciation to the doctors at the Emily Couric Cancer Center, Charlottesville, the doctors and nurses at the University of Virginia and to Intrepid Hospice of Staunton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his four brothers, Willie, Gene, Steve and Bobby Fitzgerald and his two sisters, Faye Wingard and Linda “Dottie” Shifflett.

Preston was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, Linda Cook Fitzgerald, they celebrated 39 years of marriage; his three children, Chastity “Chas” Desper, Travis Fitzgerald and Amber Fitzgerald; his six grandchildren, Haven Fitzgerald, Aiden Fitzgerald, Derrick Massie, Noah Massie, Myles Massie and Cobain Nauman and two special friends, Mike Walker and Paul Painter. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 P. M., Sunday, September 23, 2018, at the Woodmen of the World, 4001 White Bridge Road, Waynesboro, VA 22980, conducted by Pastors Gene and Linda Arey.

A visitation will be held immediately after the memorial service. Preston requested cremation. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in his honor, to Harvest International Church, 535 W. Main Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980, designated for the Building Fund.
