Obituary for Doris L. Ruiter RUITER, Mrs. Doris L. Comstock, MI Passed away Tuesday morning May 29, 2018. Doris was born October 14, 1918 in Orangeville Ml, daughter of John (J.B.) Beattie and Mildred E. (Chapman) Beattie. She was a homemaker who did her own sewing and canning all through her life.
Doris’ first love was knitting. She knitted many different things for her family and friends. She also loved birds and music of all sorts.
She loved flowers of all kinds, her favorite being carnations. What a wonderful cook Doris was. Doris loved watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.
Also her daily phone calls from her sister Marian until her passing in 2007. Preceding her in death are her husband, Cornelius “Neal” on January 3, 2001, son John on October 3, 2009, son-in-law Patrick Stanley in 2016, grandson-in-law Pete Raab in 2016, 4 brothers – Earl, Robert, Walter and Louis, and 3 sisters – Marian, Harriette and Helen. She is survived by 2 daughters, Doreen (Dee) Stanley and Neola (Lollie) (Bruce) Birdsong, a daughter-in-law, Doty (John) Koning; grandchildren, Kim & Randy Wason, Aaron & Jody Stanley, Heather & Ron Sutton, Kelly & Hope Stanley, Tanya Raab, Monica & David DeBrot, Jon & Cheri Ruiter, Tamara Ruiter; great grandchildren, Trevor & Rachel Wason, Ryan & Kalie Stanley, Dexter Stanley, Max Sikkema, Jacob & Charlotte Ruiter, Ciara, Daniel & Ricki Ruiter, Nickolas Fliszar and Ashley Raab.
Also, special nephew Lee Cook, wonderful neighbors the Nuyen family, special friend and caregiver, Linda Yomans, special friends Squeek and Don Dornan, and all of her friends at the Local #7 Teamsters Retirees Club. Services will be held at 11:00 Monday, June 4, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
