Doris Birchett, 94, of Bowling Green, went to meet her Lord and Savior at 10:08 a.m. October 17, 2018 at Greenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bowling Green, KY. The Soddy, TN native was born June 26, 1924. Primarily a homemaker, she volunteered over 5,000 hours over 30 years at Greenview Regional Hospital and was previously a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She taught junior girls in Sunday School at Glendale Baptist Church and assisted with VBS at Grace Baptist Church, where she was a member for 40 years. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Lewis Petty and Theona Reames Petty. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lee Birchett; her son, Kenneth Gene Birchett; and a brother, Thomas Lewis Petty, Jr. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 at J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Survivors include her twin sister, Dorothy Wright of Red Bank, TN; a daughter, Beth Jett of Lynchburg, VA; a son, John Birchett and his wife Patti of Bowling Green, KY; seven grandchildren, Jeff Blair and his wife Amber, Jon Blair and his wife Barb, Lisa Burden and her husband JR, April Shely, Joe Blair and his wife LeeAnne, John Birchett, Jr. and his wife Karen, and Michael Birchett; 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the many caregivers at the Bowling Green Retirement Village (Charter Senior Living) and at Greenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, who cared for her during her time spent there.
