OBITUARY Dorothea Marie Bluck February 25, 1923 – September 19, 2018 Dorothea Bluck, age 95, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. She was born in Newcomerstown, Ohio on February 25, 1923 to the late Edward A. Wilkin and Helen Stitt Wilkin Hootman. On October 16, 1941 she married Marion E. Bluck.

Dode was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School in 1941 and also graduated from Muskingum College. Dorothea began her teaching career at Newcomerstown West Elementary, where she taught for six years. She completed her career as a teacher in the Coshocton City School System.

After retiring from teaching, Dode became a full-time artist. She was an active member in many art organizations: National Society of Layerists, Multi Media, South Eastern Ohio Watermedia Society, National Collage Society, Coshocton Art Guild and several other art groups. Dode was also a Board Member of the Pomerene Center for the Arts and organized many art shows and exhibits for the community.

Her paintings are published in several art books; and her art was often inspired by traveling. Dorothea is survived by her two sons, Dennis Bluck and Richard (Sharon) Bluck, both of West Lafayette; five grandchildren, Tracy (Jennifer) Bluck of West Lafayette, Julie Rassman of Parkland Florida, Rusty (Melissa) Bluck of West Lafayette, Samantha (Jon) Williams of Akron and Amanda (David) Kirby of New Concord; Great-grandchildren, Kalynn (Dakota) Albertson, Laken Bluck, Karrie Bluck, Zachary Rassman, Matthew Rassman, Gavin Williams, Nolan Williams, Elliot Kirby, Landon Kirby, Ruby Bluck and Sunny Bluck; Step great-grandchild, Sophia Dunn; Great-Great grandchildren, Fynlee Albertson and a sincere close friend, Brenda Brady. Along with her parents, Dorothea is preceded in death by her husband Marion, her son, Gary Bluck and her sisters, Doris VanDusen and Jane Miller.

Friends may call at the Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 3pm to 6pm and one hour prior to the service on Monday. The funeral service will be Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11am at the funeral home with Father Homer Blubaugh officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette, Ohio.
