Obituary of Dorothea Wellington Dorothea M. Wellington, 92, of Bangor, passed away peacefully November 10, 2018 with her family at her side. She was born March 24, 1926 in Stafford, England, the daughter of William and Witheeburger (Calvert) Riley. She met an American soldier, Donald M. Wellington, during WWII and returned to the states as his bride.

She worked as the head of yard goods at W.T. Grant’s in Downtown Bangor. As a talented seamstress, she created many wedding dresses and a multitude of dance costumes. Dorothea then taught kindergarten at St. Mary’s Parochial School in Bangor from 1968 to 1987.

While there, she and sister, Fleurette created the first library in the building. The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers on the Acadia Unit at Westgate Center for Rehabilitation and the staff of St. Joseph Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of Dorothea during her final months. Surviving are her son, Daniel Wellington and his wife, Jennifer and her daughter, Dale Robertson; grandchildren, Mike Wellington and his fiancée, Reanna Pelkey, Kevin Wellington and Kyle Robertson; sisters-in-law, Marguerite Wellington, Virginia Wolfe and Mary Jane Wellington.

She was predeceased by her husband Donald of 64 years and by her sister, Joyce and an infant son. Family and friends may visit 4 – 6 PM Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio St., Bangor where a reception will be held immediately afterward. Burial will be at Mt.

Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics of Maine, to the All Saints School Library or to a charity of choice. Messages and memories of Dorothea may also be shared with her family at kileyandfoley.com.
