Dorothy Dot Hanson, April 18, 1927 — May 24, 2018

Obituary for Dorothy “Dot” M. Hanson Dorothy Marie Hanson, “Dot” to her friends, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 91. She was born April 18, 1927 in Watertown, WI, the daughter of Paul and Martha (Karge) Hoeft. Dot was a 1945 graduate of Beloit High School.

She married Charles R. Hanson on June 21, 1947 in Beloit, WI. He predeceased her on March 5, 1988. Dot was formerly employed by Mercy Hospital as a unit clerk, retiring in April of 1989.

She was a member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a generous person who lived by her faith, loved cooking, painting, sewing, ceramics, crocheting, putting puzzles together and had a passion for horses. She was very proud of her Lord’s Supper Set she made of ceramic that she spent countless hours on, and she recently donated it to her church.

When her children were younger, she was very active in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Dot loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who always were the of that special gleam in her eye. She was especially close with her great-grandson Kyle who she spent a lot of quality time with.

Survivors include her children, Stephen Hanson of Mesa, AZ, Diane Philman of Rockledge, FL, Richard (Sue) Hanson of Brodhead, WI, and Neale (Joy) Hanson of Janesville, WI. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren (Michael, Matthew, Megan (Brandon), Shelley, Terri (John), Jennifer (Scott), Tim (Coty), Angela (Adam), Shawn (Leanne), Stephanie (Tim), and several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, siblings (Harold, Norman, Gladys, Eunice, Betty, Lorraine, Carol, twin sister Doris), daughter Martha, son-in law Jack, son-in-law Percy, great-grandson Aaron, and a special sister-in-law Bea.

Funeral service for Dot will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 in Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1531 Townline Road, Beloit, WI, with Reverend Dan Eddy officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Cemetery, South Beloit, IL. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
