Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Maiden Gammon “Nurse Gammon”, age 85, Danville, VA, passed away on Friday, June 01, 2018 at her residence. She was born on July 06, 1932, in Greensboro, NC, to the late Leeroy Maiden and Carrie Roach Maiden. Before her retirement, Mrs. Gammon worked as an LPN at the former Danville Memorial Hospital and attended White Oak Worship Center.

She was previously a member of Emanuel Weslyn Church for 27 years, where she served as choir director. Mrs. Gammon was a graduate of St. Leos Catholic School of Nursing and Danville Community College. She spent most of her life between Greensboro, NC and Danville, VA.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Gammon, of the residence; daughter, Carol Walker (Gary), of Providence, NC; sons, Joseph Lester Martin (Paula), of Wise, VA; and Robert E. Martin (Anita), of Whitsett, NC; brother, Donald Maiden (Diane), of Halifax, VA; sister, Wil Beasley, of Kernersville, NC; five grandchildren; six great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Sis Maiden; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gammon was predeceased by her sisters, Jenannie Frances Maiden, Audrey Welsh, and Ann Pridgen; and brothers, John, Henry, and James Maiden. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 04, 2018 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev.

Roger Ewing and Joseph Lester Martin officiating. Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 03, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

At other times, the family will be at the residence of her daughter, Carol Walker, 283 White Drive, Providence, NC 27315. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the White Oak Worship Center, 8465 US-29, Blairs, VA 24527. Swicegood Funeral Service is respectfully serving the Gammon family.
