Obituary for Carolyn Austin Gibson Carolyn Austin Gibson, 69, of Danville, VA died Friday, July 20, 2018 after a decline in health since October. Mrs. Gibson was born in Alamance County, NC on November 28, 1948 the daughter of the late Norman Thomas Austin, Sr., and Mabel Somers Austin. Mrs. Gibson owned and operated Duck Haven.

She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, was an avid painter, and enjoyed crocheting. On October 22, 1970, she married Joseph Allen “Sonny” Gibson, who survives. Survivors also include a son, Stephen B. Conrad (Liz); a brother, Norman Thomas Austin, Jr.; a grandson, Seth Conrad; and her beloved dog, Ming.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel conducted by the Rev. David Hatcher. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to The Haven of Rest Adult Christian Home 2977 Cox Rd Ridgeway, VA 24148. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is serving the Gibson family.
