Rev. Herman May, age 79, of 721 Slayton Rd. , Sutherlin, VA, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Salem Veterans Hospital in Salem, VA.

He was born on June 15, 1939, in Iaeger, WV, to the late William Carson May and Margie Mae Peters May. Rev. May worked as a District Secretary and Treasurer for Pentecostal Church of God, and he was a member of Danville Christian Fellowship Church.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife, Julia May, of the residence; children, Herman C. May (Virgie); Ronald C. May; Daniel C. May (Annette); Deborah S. May Welch (Kevin); and Barbara E. May (David); fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lois Wood (Rudolph) and Bonnie Turman (Tommy). In addition to his parents, Rev.

May was predeceased by his daughter, Catherine Hoover. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Danville Christian Fellowship Church, 135 Winstead Dr., Danville, VA 24541 with Bishop David Bryant and Bishop Randall Lawrence officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Danville Christian Fellowship Church, 135 Winstead Dr., Danville, VA 24541. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the American Legion Post 1097.
