Obituary for Marie Petty McKinney The sunrise of Marie Petty McKinney, 77, of 623 Lansbury Drive was on June 13, 1941 the sunset of her life was on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Marie was born in Danville, VA a daughter of the late Bryant Jennings Petty, Sr. and Ethel Dix Petty. Marie worked for Disston and Wrapco Printing Company.

She was a member of Schoolfield Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Danville Life Saving Crew Auxiliary. On April 22, 1967 she married, John Ray McKinney, who survives of the residence. Survivors also include a son, John “Ray” McKinney, Jr., and wife, Angela, two grandsons, Cecil Ray McKinney and John Shelton McKinney; and her beloved dog, Sasha.

A sister, Louise P. Corbin, a brother, Bryant Jennings Petty, Jr., and a grandchild, predeceased her. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel conducted by the Rev. David Turbyfill and the Rev.

Susan Hannah. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7:00-8:30 PM at the funeral home and at the residence at other times.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew 202 Christopher Lane Danville, VA 24541.
