Charlene Walker Perdue, age 78, of Danville, VA, passed away on Thursday, September, 6, 2018 at Stratford Rehab Center. Charlene was born on July 9, 1940, in Danville, VA, a daughter of the late Charles Walker and Louise Barker Walker. She was also predeceased by her brothers Kenneth and Buddy Walker.

She lived all of her life in Danville. Mrs. Perdue is survived by a son, George “Peanut” Perdue, who she was fond of saying was so ugly as a baby she didn’t want to take him home. Charlene worked at Dan River for over 30 years, retiring when they closed.

She loved to laugh, craft, watch TV, and drink Dr. Pepper. But her true gift was the love she shared with so many. It was not uncommon for her house to be full of young people who she considered her kids.

Tim, Billy, Jerry, Alan, Will, Wesley, Lisa, Christie, Donnie, Bobby, Michael, and many more. She also leaves behind her friends Shirley Logan, and Robert Brooks, as well as cousins Bill Evans and Lynn Abbott, who all helped care for her as her health declined.
