Rachel Iris Kent Cundiff, age 94, of 5225, Kentuck Road, Lot 12, Ringgold, VA, died on October 24, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Cundiff was born on January 30, 1924, in Pittsylvania County, VA, a daughter of the late, Walter and Mattie Wilkerson Kent. She lived most of her life in Danville and Ringgold where she was a homemaker.

She and her husband farmed for eleven years prior to her employment with Dan River Mills. Mrs. Cundiff was employed with Dan River Mills as an inspector and was a member of Shermont Baptist Church. She was married for 59 years to Elija “Dick” Cundiff who preceded her in death on September 3, 2003.

She was a wonderful person who loved the Lord and her family will all of her heart. She loved her church and her church family and always attended when she could. Mrs. Cundiff is survived by sons, Richard Cundiff (Linda), Walter Kent Cundiff (Gale) and Paul Cundiff and his girlfriend Patsy Lee Thomas; daughters, Joan Hearp (Doug) and Rachel Lee Jefferson (Tommy); grandchildren, Audrey Gibson, Pam Strube, Donnie Womack, Jeffrey Cundiff, Paul Cundiff, Jr., Brian Cundiff, Michelle Cundiff, Robby Lee Cundiff and Teresa Cook; thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Shermont Baptist Church with Reverend Ryan Riley officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and at other times the family will be at the residence.
