Obituary for J.C. Richardson III Joseph Carter “J.C.” Richardson, III, 69, of 183 Ingram Rd, Danville, VA, died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Sovah Health. J.C. was born in Danville, VA on November 17, 1948, son of the late Joseph Carter Richardson, Jr. and the late Frances Shumate Richardson. He spent all of his life in the Danville area where he worked for Goodyear as a wielder until he retired on disability in October of 2000.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. J.C. was an avid photographer, who also enjoyed feeding birds, deer, and other wild animals. Survivors include sisters, Nancye Gery and husband Doug Gery, Sr. and Joanne Gentry all of Danville, VA; brother, Jimmy Richardson and wife Janet of Danville, VA; nephew, Doug Gery, Jr. and wife Melissa of Danville, VA; nieces Betty Jo DeHart and husband Dean of Danville, VA and Kim Gentry of Rocky Mount, VA; great nephew, Matthew Gery of Danville, VA; great niece, Gabrielle Gery of Durham, NC; and the mother of his son, Francine Richardson Bentley.

In addition to his parents, J.C. was predeceased by his son, Brian Richardson; and nephew, Mack Gentry, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Marvin Warner officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Sunday night from 7:00 p.m. to 8:300 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times, the family will be at the residence, 183 Ingram Rd, Danville, VA 24541. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice. The family would like to wish a special thank you to Sovah Home Health, caregivers, Mary Lou Dunn and Margaret Terry, and the Rev.
