Obituary for Henry Morgan Chambers Sr. Henry Morgan Chambers, Sr., 84, of 221 Fox Hollow Drive departed this life on October 18, 2018 at his residence after a decline in health for the past four years. Mr. Chambers was born in Franklin County, VA on June 13, 1934 a son of the late Owen Henry Chambers, Sr., and Myrtle Jones Chambers. Mr. Chambers graduated from Brookville High School, attended Virginia Military Institute and marched in the Inauguration Parade for President Eisenhower worked for Southern Railway, was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church, and attended Dan River Church for the last three years.

He was an avid gardener and was a diehard Alabama fan. On September 12, 1953, he married Betty Jean King Chambers, who passed on July 10, 2005. Survivors include two daughters, Susan C. Oakes (Harry), Judy C. Purgason; two sons, David Chambers, Henry M. “Butch” Chambers, Jr. (Susan); three sisters, Cornelia “Sis” Holland, Lee McKenna, Jean Boyce; six grandchildren, Kelli O. Clay (Jeromy), Will Oakes (Jessica), Allen Purgason (Lauren), Bradley Chambers, Patrick Chambers, Samantha Purgason; seven great-grandchildren, Caroline, Bridget, Layla, Jaxon, Tripp, Henry, Kinsley, and his beloved boxer, Tyson.

In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a sister, three brothers, a son-in-law, “Rocket” Roger Purgason, a daughter-in-law, Janice Chambers. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel conducted by Pastor Scott Randlett and Pastor Steve Chromy. The family will receive friends on Sunday one hour prior to the service and at the residence at other times.
