Cecile Shields, January 11, 1936 — October 16, 2018

Obituary for Cecile Shields Cecile Yvonne Thompson Shields, 82, of 2205 Ringgold Rd, Ringgold, VA died on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center after being in declining health for the past two years. Mrs. Shields was born in Ringgold, VA on January 11, 1936, daughter of the late Clinton Thompson and the late Alice Gregory Thompson. She spent all of her life in the Ringgold area where she was an accountant for Harris, Harvey, Neal, CPA for 45 years and then worked part time until her retirement.

She was a charter member of Lakewood Community Church, where she was a choir member and Sunday school teacher as long as her health permitted her to attend. On November 5, 1955, she married Billy Neal Shields, who survives of the residence. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Shields is survived by, son, Stephen Neal Shields and wife Beth of Columbia, MD; brothers Gene Thompson and wife Clarice of Wilmington, DE and Leonard Thompson and wife Joyce of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Skye Shields, Alia Shields, and Michaela Shields; nephews, Rob Thompson, and Alan Thompson; and niece, Laura Thompson.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Lakewood Community Church with the Reverend Ryan Call officiating. Interment will follow in Schoolfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the church and at other times will be at the residence, 2205 Ringgold Rd, Ringgold, VA 24586.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial donations be made to Lakewood Community Church, 129 Clarks Mill Road, Ringgold, VA 24586. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for the love and care given to Mrs. Shields.
