Obituary for Danny DeHart Danny Richard DeHart, 71, of 9384 Martinsville Hwy, Danville VA, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Sovah Health after being in declining health for several months. Danny was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on May 5, 1947, son of the late Carl Vivian DeHart and the late Clarice Soyars DeHart. He spent most of his life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County areas where he graduated from Tunstall High School Class of 1964.
Danny was then drafted in the United States Army for the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged after two years of service. He went on to work multiple positions for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 41 years until his retirement as Business Center Manager. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.
Danny was known for his love of cooking, gardening, surf fishing, having barbeques, vacationing at the DeHart Homestead in Meadows of Dan, VA, being a member of the Do-Drop-In Breakfast Club, and the Top Ten Club at Goodyear. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. Danny leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Carter DeHart of the residence; daughter, Michelle DeHart Jordan of Greenville, NC; son, Daniel DeHart and wife Shana of Danville, VA; grandchildren, Cole Jordan, Mia Jordan, Grayson DeHart, and Kenadie DeHart; and step grandchildren, Ashlyn Jones and Madisyn Bledsoe.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by sister, Linda DeHart King; and grandson, Dawson Christopher DeHart. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with Pastor Anthony Pass officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens with military honors conducted by the United States Army.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence, 9384 Martinsville Hwy, Danville, VA 24541. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Brosville Vol. Fire and Rescue at 11912 Martinsville Hwy, Brosville, VA 24541 or to the Danville Pittsylvania County Cancer Association at 223 Riverview Dr Suite J, Danville, VA 24541.
