Mrs. Eunice Turner Dickens, age 97, of 1031 Halifax Rd. Danville, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at her residence. She was born on July 25, 1921, in Callands, VA, to the late Calip T. Turner and Sallie Belle Finney Turner.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Dickens worked in Dan River Mills, and she was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was the last survivor of her generation. Mrs. Dickens was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

She loved her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Dickens was a true Proverbs 31 woman. She is survived by her children: Judy Lyles and husband, Gene; Norma Simmons and husband, Charles; Miriam Long and husband, Louis; James “Jim” Curry; Georgia Lawson and husband, Les; Calip T. Curry; and Walter M. Curry; step-children, David, Michael, Betsy, Shirley, Linda, and Jimmy; a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dickens was predeceased by her first husband, James E. Curry; second husband, Rufus Dickens; daughter, Gloria Christine Curry; and siblings, LouAnnie, Mary, Lucy, Georgia, Betty, Roosevelt, Richard, Madie, and Mae Alice. A celebration of Mrs. Dickens life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Fellowship Baptist Church, corner of Halifax Rd. and Oakland Ave.

, Danville, VA with Rev. Lawrence Morris, Sr. officiating. The family will be receiving friends at 1031 Halifax Rd.

, Danville, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Dickens name to Commonwealth Home nursing and Hospice at 159 Executive Dr #H, Danville, VA. Barker Funeral Home is respectfully serving the Dickens family.
