Mrs. Mildred R. Jones Stokes Jeffries, age 90, of 436-B Jones Road, Danville, VA, passed away on October 16, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Jeffries was born on July 4, 1928, in White County, Georgia, to the late Azzle Augusta Burke and Dola Mae Gerrells Burke. She worked as a weaver at Dan River Mills and was married to Hester Jeffries who survives.

Mrs. Jeffries is survived by her children, Sandra Taylor (Donald); Johnnie Jones (Diane), and Ricky Jones (Julie); seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl Burke and Carl Burke; sisters, Ruby Jones, Betty Haymore, and Judy Bobbitt; and sister-in-law, Glenna Burke. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husbands, Wallace Jones and Howard Stokes; two children, Joe Jones and Gary Jones; and brother, Bobby Burke. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 19, 2018 at 10 AM at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Reverend Johnnie Jones officiating.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 PM until 7:30 PM at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence. Interment will follow the service in Danville Memorial Gardens. Swicegood Funeral Service is respectfully serving the Stokes family.
