Dorothy Laverne (Johnson) Hazelip, 87, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Linda E. White Hospice House. Dorothy was born in Evansville, Indiana on March 25, 1931 as the oldest daughter to the late Robert and Alma (Wilkens) Johnson. She attended Sacred Heart and St. Agnes and graduated from Memorial High School in 1949.

Dorothy was married on October 14, 1967 to Bill Hazelip. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Sears and worked there for 29 years. Dorothy… Read More » was a past member of Northside Congregational Church where she was active in the Women’s Society and helped in that churches’ establishment.

The Hazelip’s presently attend First Baptist Church downtown. Dorothy was a believer in Jesus Christ and worked on many church projects. She was a lover of sports and a season ticket holder for the Aces games for over 50 years.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Bill Hazelip of Evansville, IN; step son, Todd Hazelip; godson, Zachary Peaugh; cousin, Fred Frick; sisters-in-law, Sue Carnahan (Jim), Charmaine Peters, Ann Springer (Rick) all of Evansville, IN; brothers-in-law, Bobby Hazelip (Theresa), Bruce Hazelip (Christine), David Hazelip (Cookie); and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Jane Ware. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave.

, Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Dave Bowersox officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit from 11:00 AM until service time on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home.
