Dorothy L Desrosiers Northfield— Dorothy Hutchins Desrosiers, 89,also lovingly known as Nana and Dot, passed away Wednesday, October 3rd, at Valerie Manor in Torrington where she spent the last year of her life. Dorothy was born in Waterville, ME on September 22, 1929, one of thirteen children to the late Thelma (Arris) and Harry Hutchins. Dorothy will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt.

She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile, tender voice and the abundance of love she gave to her family. She loved carpentry, sewing,knitting, crocheting and crafts. She loved tools and her hands were rarely still.

Dolls were her favorite and loved collecting knick-knacks and had more than most. She also enjoyed reading spiritual books, gardening, and long walks with her husband, Don. She is survived by her daughters, Charlene Dade and her partner Walter Decker of Northfield, Betty Knowles and husband Sherman of FL.

, Joy of Maine and her son Chester of ME, grandchildren Denise and Brad Arsenault of Terryville, Darlene ( Desell) Balbou and fiance Jeff Tucker of Watertown, Felechia Merrick and husband Dan Adickes of FL, Heather Galvin of FL,Carrie, Billy , Jimmy, and Jason, great grandchildren Thomas, Lia, Cameron, Brandon, Dakota, Anthony, and Brianna and great grandson James. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Donald Desrosiers, and son Owen, daughter Tina, and grandsons Dwight Dessell Jr. and Kyle Dade, Derek and 14 siblings, her nephew John Bates Jr. and many cousins and nieces and nephews.

Dorothy’s family is deeply grateful to Charlene Dade and partner Walter Decker for their unending love and care during her last years. Thanks to Charline (Bates) Doty for her act of kindness shown during the bereavement of our beloved mother. May Dorothy’s memory be a blessing to all who knew her.

Graveside Services will be held Wednesday Oct. 10 at 11:00 AM at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington.
