Riverton- Susan K. Hancock, 65, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the longtime partner of Bertrand Giroux. Susan was born in Torrington on August 4, 1953, daughter of the late James Fass, Sr., and Doris (Knoth) Fass, and had been a Torrington-Riverton area resident most of her life.

She was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of the VFW Post 296 in Winchester. Susan had been employed as a companion with Companions and Homemakers, enjoyed traveling, and camping. Survivors include two sons, James Hancock and Michael Hancock and his wife Josephine, all of Torrington; one brother, James Fass, Jr., and his wife Janet of Seminole, FL; four sisters, Nancy Bleakney of Torrington, Lynn Stephen and her husband John of Sun City Center, FL, Virginia “Ginger” Krause and her husband James, and Cynthia Fass, all of Torrington; two grandchildren, Austin Kroh and Melissa Hancock; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.

Susan was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa Hancock. Services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 2:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will be private.

Friends may call Saturday from 12:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 296, 114 Colebrook River Rd. , Winsted, CT 06098, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
