Obituary for Douglas Evans Hammer Douglas Evans Hammer age 77, of Tompkinsville passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Monroe County Medical Center. He was born December 09, 1940 in Monroe County, KY to the late Carlos Hammer and Reva Hammer Bray. He was united in marriage with Bernice Pruitt on June 13, 1970 in Tompkinsville.

He was veteran having served his country in the United States Army for four years. He was also a member of the Clover Hill Church of Christ. In addition to his wife Bernice Pruitt Hammer , he is survived by one daughter: Mary Hammer of Tompkinsville, One son: William Hammer of Tompkinsville, One sister: Linda Jones and husband Ralph of Tompkinsville, two brothers: Jackie Bray and wife Linda of Gamaliel and Robert Hammer of Champagne, IL, Grandchildren: James Dalton Odell (J.

D) Hammer, Angela Hammer, Brittany Young, William Charles (Little Will) Hammer, and great-grandchildren: Bryleigh Danielle Elizabeth Hammer and James Dwight Odell Hammer In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his stepfather: Farris Bray, Stepmother: Maye Hammer, and sister: Nancy Propes. Pallbearers will be Terry Wright, Jeff Propes, J.D Hammer, Jason Jones, David Bray, Jerry Bray, and Darren Bray. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.

John Osgatharpe will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Wilson Basil Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15 from 3:00 PM until 8:00PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
