Dr. Richard F. Hill of Wetumpka, AL went peacefully to his heavenly home on November 25, 2018, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be at Thelma Baptist Church at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 28th with Reverend Doug Chappelle officiating. Visitation preceding the funeral 12 to 2 pm.

Burial with military honors will follow immediately after at the church cemetery. Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 53 years.

Pamela Hill of Montgomery, AL; two sons and their spouses who loved him dearly, Tyler (Aimee) Hill of Montgomery, AL; Trent (Tish) Hill of Wallsboro, AL. “Doc” will be missed by his three grandchildren Hope, Hayden, Caroline; and two step-grandchildren Hannah Kate and Natalie. He is survived by his siblings Carl Hill of Prattville, AL, Bryant (Dot) Hill of Montgomery, AL and Sylvia (Pink) Bunn of Atlanta, GA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Born on March 21, 1943 in Montgomery, AL, Dr. Hill graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 1965 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1969 where he was a member of Alpha Psi veterinary fraternity. He served his country as Captain, USAF with 2 years active duty and 6 years USAFR. He practiced Veterinary Medicine for one year at the Oneonta Animal Clinic in Oneonta, AL and for 34 years at the Animal Health Center in Crestview, FL with his partners Dr. John Fountain and Dr. Don Pyle.

In retirement he enjoyed spending time at his beloved Paradise built from the vision of his own dream with the help of his dear sons and brothers. He served on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Treasure Forest Association. He was a faithful member, deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Thelma Baptist Church as well as First Baptist Church of Crestview, FL.

Dr. Hill loved spending time with his family and friends and was constantly in the service of others through Xtreme Outdoors Ministry. In lieu of flowers gifts in his memory may be sent to Xtreme Outdoors Ministry 100 Taylor Way, Wetumpka, AL 36092.
