E. A. “Mac” McMullen of Belpre, Ohio passed into eternal life on Monday, February 4, 2019 at his residence. Mac was born October 30, 1950 in Parkersburg, WV, and was the son of the late Earl H. and Nina (Denham) McMullen. Mac was a graduate of Williamstown High School in 1969.

After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, receiving two Bronze Stars, and he was a Purple Heart recipient along with many other medals and honors. Mac retired from G.E. Plastics after 30 years of service. He was a former member of Moose Lodge #1118 and a charter member of Peoples Church in Boaz, WV.

In 2009, Mac proudly converted to Catholicism and became a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, watching and feeding the wildlife around his residence, and watching sports of all kinds, especially college football and college basketball. Mac was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved camping, especially at Myrtle Beach, SC and winters in Okeechobee, FL.

One of his many famous sayings “Happy Trails to You” will forever be embedded in our hearts. Mac was well known for the nicknames he had for everyone. We’ll miss his sense of humor and kind and caring heart, his sparkling blue eyes and his genuine and contagious laughter.

Survivors include his wife and best friend Kay (Carmichael) McMullen, two sons, Brian (Michelle) McMullen of Wesley Chapel, NC, Brad (Tina) McMullen of Williamstown, WV. Two stepchildren, Suzanne (Eric) Parsons of Marietta, Ohio and Rob George of Belpre, Ohio. Seven grandchildren, Garret and Rylie McMullen of Wesley Chapel, NC, Ally, Lilly and Ella McMullen of Williamstown, WV, and Lily and Emma Kay Parsons of Marietta, Ohio, three sisters, Dian (John) Skiffington of Tuscon, AZ, Beverly (Dick) Maidens of Williamstown, WV, and June (Kermit) Stoffel of Marietta, Ohio.

Also surviving is a very special Vietnam Veteran brother, Mike “Pete” Petersen of Salt Lake City, UT with whom he was reunited on “The Today Show” in the segment “Reuniting Vietnam Veterans/Finding Stretch”. Visitation will be at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church on Friday, February 8, 2019 with interment following at the Rockland Cemetery in Belpre, Ohio.
