Edgar E. McCoy Jr., 91, Altoona, died Tuesday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Edgar E. Sr. and Mary C. (Miller) McCoy. In 1948, he married H. Dolores Saylor.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years; two daughters: Joan Claycomb and husband, Lewis, in West Virginia and Karen Moughemer and husband, Dennis, of Altoona; three sons: David and wife, Rosemary, of Hollidaysburg, Richard E. and wife, Donna, of Roaring Spring and W. Scott and wife, Christy, of York; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Marjorie Rosenberger of Duncansville, Mary L. Dadone in Colorado and Catherine Smith in Arizona; and a brother, James in New York. He was preceded in death by three grandsons; two brothers: John and Donald; and three sisters: Grace, Shirley and Sharon. Edgar attended Altoona High School.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He worked in construction as a carpenter. He was a 35-year member of the Lakemont Lions Club and Carson Valley Church of the Brethren.

Edgar enjoyed woodworking. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to either the Lakemont Lions Club or Carson Valley Church of the Brethren.
