Edna Bowling Thomas, age 99, of Sanford, NC, died Friday, September 21, 2018 at her home. She was born in Wake County, NC on September 18, 1919 to the late Willie Samuel Bowling and Blanche Castleberry Bowling. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Lee Thomas and brothers William, Russell, Edward, Ralph and Floyd.

Mrs. Thomas was a hardworking tobacco farmer and in later years hung wallpaper for many people across our area. She was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church. She is survived by a sister Doris Mansfield of Florida; many nieces and nephews; Ramona Bowling of Sanford, Eddie Bowling and wife Carol Sanford; Greg Bowling of the home, Terry Bowling and wife Kim of Sanford, Charles Davis and wife Pat of Florida, Roger Davis and wife Carol of Graham and many other special great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, September 24, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the McDowell Hall of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM with Dr. Calvin Sayles officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hubert & Edna Thomas Mission Fund at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church, 316 West Main Street, Sanford, NC 27332.
