Edna Mae Brandt, 83, of Pana, IL, formerly of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 9:01 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Prairie Rose Healthcare Center in Pana, IL. Edna was born December 18, 1935 in Green County, IL, the daughter of Matthew and Verna (Book) Smith. She married her childhood sweetheart, Arthur Lewis Brandt, on August 29, 1954 in Green County, IL.

He preceded her in death on April 20, 2018. Edna graduated from Greenfield High School and was a homemaker and mother to her 6 children. She stated that the best years of her life were raising her children, and spending time with her family and friends.

Edna enjoyed being outside, boating, camping, going to rummage sales, and helping others. She would always have time for the neighbor children, and if they visited at meal time, she would set another plate. Edna always had a large garden, canning the fruits of her labor, and kept things running smoothly for her family.

Her first job outside of her home was working as a house keeper in the Morrisonville Nursing Home, when her youngest children were in the later years of grade school. She then cleaned houses in Morrisonville, worked as a bank teller at the Morrisonville Bank, and drove a truck with Arthur for Buske Lines of Litchfield for 14 years. Upon her retirement in 2000, Edna worked part-time at the Morrisonville Grade School as a janitor, and then for Vickie Furnace at Stewarts IGA in the kitchen.

Once fully retired, she spent her time with Arthur and their dog, companion Britney. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Lemuel Hicks and Albert Smith. Edna is survived by her children, Mary (husband, Rich) Ladage of Taylorville, IL, Lee (wife, Kim) Brandt of Taylorville, IL, Danny (wife, Suni) Brandt of Litchfield, IL, Mike Brandt of Alton, IL, Cindy (significant other, Jim Paul) Brandt of Taylorville, IL, and David (significant other, Aimee) Brandt of Sullivan, IL; 11 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Edward Smith of Oklahoma; sister, Esther Arnold of Wrights, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: The family will receive guests from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 304 Carlin St., Morrisonville, IL 62546. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville, with Rev. Rodney Blomquist officiating.
