Robert’s Obituary Robert Leroy Quick, 88 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at home in Taylorville. Robert was born in Taylorville on January 24, 1931, son of Luther Lee and Rhoda Mae (Hemphill) Quick. He was married on June 12, 1953 to Bette Lorraine Shafer in Taylorville.

He attended Taylorville schools, from first through high school graduation with perfect attendance throughout his education. He was a member of the class of 1949 at Taylorville High School. He attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering and was a machinist at the A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company (Tate and Lyle) for 37 years retiring in 1986.

He and his wife, Lorraine, built and operated Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken in Taylorville from 1985 to 1990. Robert was a veteran during the Korean crisis having enlisted in the Air National Guard which was activated at the time. He was trained as an electrician to install lighting on air fields.

He served from 1951 to 1954. He was a member of the Taylorville American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Bette Lorraine Quick of Taylorville; sons, Robert Douglas (Melissa) Quick of Alvin, Illinois; Lawrence Lee “Larry” (Lisa) Quick of Edwardsville, IL; daughter, Kelly Ann (partner Amanda Durbin) Quick of Taylorville; grandchildren, Miranda Leigh Quick (Herb) Simmons of Catlin, IL; Mindi Renee Quick (Derek) Martin of St. Joseph, IL; Cheyenne Quick of Edwardsville; Valerie Quick of Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren, Pete James Martin of Catlin, IL, Caleb, Chloe and Ciara Manual of Taylorville; many nieces and nephews, including Marsha Jean of Tulsa, OK and Rhonda Mae Edmonds of Springfield, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lance Lee Quick, Luther Lawrence Quick; sister, Grace Elizabeth Quick Edmonds. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements for cremation were made through McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Taylorville.

Memorials can be sent to the Taylorville American Legion.
