Mrs. Edna Sparks Woody, age 87, passed away at Autumn Care of Marion Sunday, October 28, 2018. A native of Lamar County, Alabama, she was born on August 27, 1931 to the late Piercy and Eva Sparks. Edna was a member of Garden Creek Baptist Church for 50 years, crafty ladies club and retired from West Junior High as a cook after serving for over 20 years.

She enjoyed cooking and having fellowship with others. She will be remembered as a loving aunt. She is preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Sparks, and her beloved husband of 26 years, James Noble “B”.

Woody, who passed away December 12, 1998. Edna is survived by her sister-in-love Fannie Sherron of Marion; a number of nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, and her canine companion Penny. The family will receive friends at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. A service will follow at 12:45 p.m. with Revs.

Coy Jeans and Allen McKinney speaking. Following the service the family will proceed to Western Carolina State Veteran Cemetery where Edna will be laid to rest with her husband. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice McDowell, 575 Airport Rd, Marion, NC 28752.
