Edward E. Shelton, Sr., 91, of Dunbar Township (Wheeler), passed away peacefully on Saturday December 29, 2018 at home. He was born September 28, 1927 in Connellsville, the son of the late Joseph P. and Emily Lynn (Preston) Shelton. He was a member of the United Baptist Church, Connellsville.

Ed served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an 812th Engineer in the Aviation Battalion. Once returning from the War, Ed was employed as a steelworker through U.S. Steel until his retirement. He was a member and one of the founders of the American Legion Post 762 and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 21.

Ed is survived by his children, William E. Shelton and wife Gwen, Edward Shelton Jr. and several step-children; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Josephine Shelton, William Shelton, James R. Shelton, Leonard Shelton, Robert Shelton, and Barbara Ann Leos. Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC.

418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Wednesday January 2 from 1pm until the hour of the funeral service at 6pm with Pastor Albert Winfrey officiating. At 6pm, full military rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post 21 and the American Legion Posts 301 and 762. Interment will be private.
