OBITUARY Edward F. Donnelly August 16, 1930 – October 10, 2018 Edward F. Donnelly, age 88, of Scituate passed away peacefully at the Cardigan Nursing Home in Scituate. He was the beloved husband of Mary F. (McCarthy) Donnelly, with whom he would have shared a 55th wedding anniversary on October 26. Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late John J. and Elizabeth M. (McLaughlin) Donnelly.

Brother of the late John J. Donnelly. He was a US Navy Veteran. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from College of the Holy Cross and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Boston University.

He went on to a long career as an Assistant City Manager in Worcester, Executive Secretary of Winchester and later served as Town Administrator of Scituate. When he retired, he was employed by the Commonwealth of MA in the Dept. of Communities and Development.

During his retirement, he enjoyed skiing with a group of friends and golfing, which he did well into his 70’s. Edward was the devoted father of John J. Donnelly of VA, Mark E. Donnelly and his wife Christine of Quincy and Deana M. Donnelly Newman and her husband Casey of CA. Cherished Grampy of Colin, Caroline and Mary.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place on Monday, October 15 from 8:30-9:30 AM at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate.

Interment to take place privately at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Cardigan Nursing Home, 59 Country Way, Scituate, MA 02066 in appreciation of the kindness and care they gave to Edward and his family.
