Edward George Lisac passed away Wednesday afternoon at his home in Butte. Ed was born in Butte, Saturday, February 17, 1923 to Martin and Josephine (DeRosier) Lisac. He attended local schools including Hawthorne grade school and Butte Business College.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II was severely wounded and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Following the war, Ed returned to Butte and not sure if he should go back to school or get a job, his friend Ed Leipheimer ask him to work in his tire business. After working for six years, he had enough money to open South Side Standard Service on January 1, 1953.
With a lot of hard work and dedication the business grew into a major tire distributor with wholesale warehouses in Butte and Billings, five tire shops and a convenience store and casino. Ed married twice, first to Teryl Lou Roach and later Virginia Henningsen Rivers. He was an avid outdoorsman.
He and Virginia loved to travel and went on many great adventures. Ed was a founding member of the Butte Snowmobile club, a lifetime member of the Butte Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E #240 and the Butte Rotary Club, and member of the Rodeo club, Chamber of Commerce, St. Ann’s parish, Montana Tech booster club, and an avid supporter of 4 H. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lisac, sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Patty Lisac and Mark and Barb Lisac all of Butte, daughters and son-in-law, Lynda and Greg Carlson of Hayden Lake, Idaho, Elaine Lisac and Nadene Lisac both of Butte. Grandchildren include: Ryan and Kasey Carlson, Amy Carlson, Ragan Carlson, Chris and Ann Lisac, Alax Lisac, Mason & Melissa Masters, Lance Breen, Lexi and Tyson Bickford, Levi and Rachael Davenport, Brandon Lyons, Chad and Shauna Lisac, Lacy and Pat Gannon.
Great-grandchildren include: Copper Lyn and Rocco Gannon, Hayden and Hunter Carlson, Alicia and Kelsey Lisac, Aaron Navarro, Jacob Masters, Teague Bickford, Jax Davenport and Lane and Lukka Lisac, Other survivors include his sister: Marion Staack and her family as well as Virginia’s family, Leslie and Tom Donnelly of Cardwell, Christine “Queenie” and Peter Markey and their family of Aspen, Colorado, Fred and Ann Rivers of LaCenter, Washington, Jennifer Rivers of Butte, Virginia’s grandchildren, Gina and Justin Donnelly, Joseph and Michaelee Brusati, Rex and Derick Rivers, Jonathan Rivers and her great-grandchildren, Megan and Braden Donnelly, Miah and Eli Rivers, Genevieve and Jameson Brusati. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Dale Wolfe, brother and sister-in-law, Martin “Manny” and Rose Lisac and his brother-in-law, Otto Staack. The family would like to thank the staff at Copper Ridge and Sheena Hensley and the staff at Senior Solutions for their compassionate care of Ed.
