Obituary for Edward Lloyd Ballenger II Edward L. Ballenger II, 56, of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2018, surrounded by those he loved. Eddie was born February 22, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Edward and Judy (Herrel) Ballenger. A few years after graduating from Bexley High School, Eddie moved to southwest Florida, where he relished spending time in the sun and sand.

He honed his skills as a cook and kitchen manager at Ballenger’s Restaurant in Fort Myers Beach. Later he worked at other area restaurants as a manager and executive chef. He and his partner, Duane Sulk, lived in Bonita Springs for thirty-two years.

Eddie was known and loved for his sense of humor, genuine kindness, and passion for all things tropical. Eddie is survived by his mother, Judy Ballenger; sister and brother-in-law, Shelley and Bob Bishop; two nieces and a nephew; and longtime partner, Duane Sulk. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Ballenger, and brother, Charlie Ballenger.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Eddie’s name to First Presbyterian Church, 9751 Bonita Beach Rd. , Bonita Springs, FL 34135.
