OBITUARY Edwin F. Burgard June 9, 1918 – December 1, 2018 Edwin Francis Burgard passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the age of 100. Preceded in death by his wife, Eve Lee Marquette Burgard. Father of Edwin F. Burgard, Jr (Lorraine), David A. Burgard (Suzanne), and Richard J. Burgard (Mary).

Grandfather of Edwin F. (Chip) Burgard III (Stephanie), Ashley Burgard Stanley (Brian), Stephanie Burgard Young (Keith), Stacy Burgard Brower (PJ), Emily Burgard Tatum (Charlie) and Blake Burgard. Great Grandfather of Macie Burgard, Caroline Burgard, Luke Stanley, Devin Morrill, Tayler Young, Avery Young, Kade Young, Aubrey Brower, Dixie Tatum and Henry Tatum. Preceded in death by his parents John Burgard and Henrietta Stephanie Gebs Burgard and his brothers John M. Burgard and Leonard L. Burgard.

He attended Warren Eastern High School in New Orleans and studied the Machinist trade at Delgado. He was a World War II veteran (U. S. Army), 1941- 1945, made medical instruments for the Medical School at Tulane University and worked as a machinist for Dixie Machine Welding and Manufacturing for many years.

He was a member of the Immanuel and Grace Lutheran Church in New Orleans. He enjoyed working in his garage, spending time with his friends, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, food and dining out, attending the Kenner Council on Aging for lunch and other activities, bowling in the seniors bowling league in Kenner and watching football games on TV. The family wishes to thank the management, employees and caregiving staff of Comfort Keepers, Compassus Hospice care and more recently Sunrise Senior Living (Memory Care) for the great care and love they have provided for Mr. Ed, as he was affectionately known.

Also Grace Lutheran Church for providing spiritual support at Sunrise since he had not been able to attend services at the Church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services held in the chapel at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans, LA on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Grace Lutheran Church.
