Eileen B. Harriman, 92, residing in South Bend, passed away at 10:20pm Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in Hospice House of South Bend. She was born February 22, 1926 in Minster, OH to the late Walter and Clara (Berning) Bensman. On June 10, 1950 in Minster, OH, Eileen married Gerald Harriman, who survives.

In addition to her loving husband of 68 years, she is survived by three daughters, Mary Harriman of Milwaukee, WI, Maggie (Gary) Morris of South Bend and Elizabeth “Betsy” Harriman (Dan Lewandowski), also of South Bend; one son, Gerard “Peter” (Jeanne) Harriman of Moscow, ID; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren; as well as two sisters, Muriel Maze of St. Mary’s, OH and Peggy Bensman of Minster, OH. She was preceded in death by another sister, Cleora Oen. After earning her bachelor’s degree in teaching, Eileen taught at Notre Dame High School in Hamilton, OH.

She retired from substitute teaching in the 1970’s. Eileen was a member of St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church in South Bend. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Monday, January 21, 2019 in St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 Ironwood Road, South Bend.

Graveside services and burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to mass on Monday in the church. Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
