Eleanor Mae Campbell August 26, 1934 – November 26, 2017 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Eleanor Mae (Carr) Campbell, age 83 of Loudon, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017. Born to the late James Newman and Dorothy Maude (Wilkes) Carr in the small town of Huntington, West Virginia. During her childhood her family moved to Watauga, TN, an area where she would reside until she became a young woman.

She attended East Tennessee State University and completed her degree years later from Tusculum College. While attending ETSU, she met a young gentleman by the name of Nat Harrison Campbell. They fell in love and he became her “Big Nat” and she became his “Ellie” She was 19 when the two married, settled down in Loudon and raised three sons.

This life inspired a story which found its’ way onto the pages of a book entitled, “Winfred Manor”, a work of Christian fiction. Writing was just one of Eleanor’s many talents. Her passion for books inspired her to work towards the establishment of the Loudon Public Library.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, Loudon where she held many leadership roles. She was an energetic member of the Loudon Womans Club where she served more than once as the President. She taught English in the Midway school system early on and continued to enjoy a career that spanned more than 30 years working as the Human Res director for E. Tennessee Natural Gas.

After retirement, she volunteered with the Department of Human Services helping make life a little better for children. Eleanor lived a full and fulfilling life and she will be missed by all whom loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Nat Harrison Campbell, Sr. son and daughter-in-law, James “Porky” Campbell and Sandy (Maples) Campbell.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Nat. H. and Mavis Campbell, Jr., Nashville and Rusty and Dottie Campbell, Kingston; sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Jack Hein, Knoxville; 9 grandchildren and spouses, Joe and Pam Campbell, Rachel and Joel Ensor, Jake, Lacey, Kendra, Matt, Tyler, Michelle and Rebekah Campbell; 1 great grandson Ben; nieces, nephews and friends. Services honoring and remembering Eleanor Campbell will be held 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 28th at First Baptist Church with Rev.

Richard Everett officiating. Interment 11:30 AM Wednesday in New Steekee Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Campbell may be made to her church; First Baptist Church of Loudon.

The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service at First Baptist Church, 413 Wharf St. Loudon, TN 37774. McGill-Karnes Funeral Home, 406 Wharf St. Loudon. www.
