North Lima – Eleanor M. Matteo, 97, died Sunday morning, November 11, 2018 at Assumption Village. Eleanor (Mimi) was born November 29, 1920 in Calcutta, a daughter of James and Margaret Broadbent Payton. She was a 1938 graduate of Atwater High School.

During World War II she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” for Goodyear Aircraft. She later worked as a department manager for Sears for 26 years, retiring in 1982. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Vincent) Delaney of Poland and Cheryl (Alan) Bequeath of North Lima; her son, David (Cheryle) Durham of Boardman; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her first husband, Wesley Durham in 1958 and her second husband, James Matteo; three sisters, and one brother. Per Eleanor’s request, funeral services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman.
