Obituary of Eleanor Menard Constableville-Eleanor J. (Saladin) Menard, 85, of Kotary Rd. , widow of Albert, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at The Presbyterian Home for Central New York, in New Harford. A native and long time resident of Utica, Eleanor was born on April 28, 1933, a daughter of Vincent Leo and Louise Cloute Saladin.

Eleanor grew up in Utica, where she attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, and graduated from Utica Free Academy with the Class of 1951. For many years the couple resided on Westmoreland Street, Whitesboro, before moving to their present home near Constableville in 1992. Mrs. Menard was employed at Loblaws Grocery Store of Whitesboro.

On August 4, 1951, Eleanor was united in marriage with Albert H. Menard, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Utica. Mr. Menard, a US Army Veteran, and co- owner of BGM Supply, Inc., heating and plumbing company, passed away on June 7, 2017. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, West Leyden and she loved bowling, playing cards, camping, crocheting and reading.

Eleanor is survived by her children: Barbara (Rod) Westbrook, Deerfield, Lawrence (Diane) Menard, Sauquoit, Mary (Paul) Shaw, Plant City, FL, Brian (Kathy) Menard, Boonville, Nancy Seelman, Turin, Ann (Peter) Croneiser, Old Forge, and Karen (Larry) Gilpin, Dover, DE. Grandchildren, Joe (Meghan) Dote, Marcy, Christine Dote (Alexis Rule), Rochester, William Menard, New Hartford, Cassandra Menard, (Earl Clark) Oriskany, Robert Menard, Sauquoit, Rebecca Lichorowic (Dustin Clendenin) Newark, Cynthia Lichorowic (Kurt Van Horn), Raleigh, NC, Jane Lichorowic (Shawn Axtell), Rochester, Theresa Card, Limestone, ME, Patricia (Nick) Gallo, Boonville, Raymond (Kirstie) Menard, Maine, Danielle (Jeff) Abrial, Otter Lake, Emily Croneiser, Cobleskill, and Dakota Gilpin, Delaware. Great grandchildren: Sawyer Dote, Marcy, Riley Dote, Marcy, Zek Clark, Oriskany, Ryan Card, Orono, ME, Trevor Gallo, Boonville, Alexis Gallo, Boonville, Mickayla Abrial, Lauren Abrial, Kimberly Abrial, and Lilliana Abrial, Otter Lake and a Great-Great Grandchild: Rilynn Card, Orono, ME.

Also surviving are three sisters, Theresa Cackett, Utica, Fran Welch, Oriskany and Janice Marfone, Forestport; one brother, Robert Saladin, Florida and her brother in law, Ronald Menard, Niantic, CT. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Louise Saladin, her in laws, Henry and Flora Menard, a daughter, Linda Menard, a son-in-law, Robert Seelman, brothers, Wilfred and his wife, Jane Saladin, Vincent and wife Bertha Saladin, Thomas and Norma Saladin, a sister, Mary and husband, George Allen, brothers in law, Earl Cackett and Elmer Welch and Sisters-in-law, Sister Rose Marie Menard, C.S.J. and Sandy Menard. Eleanor’s family wishes to extend a note of special thanks and appreciation to the Maple Wing staff for the excellent care they gave to our mother.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, West Leyden, with interment to follow in St. Peter’s & Paul’s Cemetery, Fish Creek. There are no public calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church, P.O Box 382, West Leyden, NY 13325.
