Elgin Theone “Lee” Canaan, 78, of Burnsville, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018, at his home. A native of Wisconsin, he was a son of the late Elgin and Odetta Griffin Canaan, and the husband of Brenda Peterson Canaan who passed away in 2014. He loved being a supervisor, fishing, the Green Bay Packers, and especially his family.

Surviving are a son: Todd Canaan of Asheville; a daughter: Laurie Onkels and husband, Ronnie, of Florida; sisters: Janice Joyce and Sherry Nickel; and a brother: Greg Canaan, all of Wisconsin; a stepson: Charlie Carroway of Johnson City, TN; a stepdaughter: Pam Allen of Burnsville; 4 grandchildren: Eden Carroway of California, Jenny Ballew, Juliana and Finley Allen of Burnsville; many nieces and nephews; and his special fishing buddies. A memorial service will be held at 2PM Monday in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Rev. Jerry Shelton will officiate. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
