Elizabeth “Betty” A. Valentine, 89, of Genoa, passed away Sunday morning, July 8, 2018, at the Genoa Retirement Village. Betty was born February 20, 1929, in Martin, Ohio, to George and Eva (Megota) Slovak. She married Cecil E. Valentine in Genoa at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on August 27, 1949, and he preceded her in death June 26, 1990.

Betty was an active member Our Lady of Lourdes, where she was also involved with the Grotto and the Rosary Altar Society. For Betty, the church… Read More » and the Grotto were her passions. Betty had worked in accounting for 23 years for H.W. Bower Trucking in Genoa and Uniroyal in Port Clinton.

She was a Girl Scout leader in Genoa for many years and served as the first Vice President of the Genoa Area Senior Citizens. Betty had a good sense of humor. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting and knitting and she enjoyed Polka music.

Betty is survived by her children, Kay (Gerald) Titkemeier, Mark Valentine, Barbara Valentine and Barbara Anne Makarich; granddaughters, Rachel (John) Todd, Stephanie Titkemeier and Megan Valentine; and great grandchildren, Matthew and Kaylee Todd. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Mary Valentine; sisters, Mary Micka, Ann Smolenski, Agnes Meyers and Lillian Miller, and brothers, Joseph, Frank and George Slovak. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Friday, July13, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with burial to follow in Restlawn Cemetery, Genoa Rd. , Perrysburg. The family has suggested memorials for Betty to go to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Grotto Fund, 204 Main St., Genoa, OH 43430; the American Cancer Society, 740 Commerce Dr. Suite B, Perrysburg, OH 43551; or the Allen-Clay Joint Fire Dist.
