Jack W. Hetrick, 81, of Oak Harbor passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 3, 2018, at Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Jack was born September 19, 1936, in Oak Harbor, Ohio, to Walter J. and Ona V. (Proffitt) Hetrick. He was a 1955 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and Elkart University.

On December 13, 1958, in Oak Harbor, he married Glenna L. Kleinhans and she survives. Jack was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor, where he served on Church Council… Read More » and was active in the St. John Lutheran Men in Mission. He was also Past Master of the Oak Harbor Masonic Lodge #495, a member of the Oak Harbor Chapter #162, and a 32nd Degree Mason Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo.

Jack also served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Jack worked as a Lab Technician at Martins Ferry Hospital, a Lab and X-ray Technician at Erie Ordnance Depot and retired in 1999 after 39 1/2 years as an Industrial Radiographer at Brush-Wellman. Jack’s favorite pastimes were camping and woodworking; but his favorite pastime was spending time with family and especially his grandchildren.

In additional to his wife, Glenna, Jack is survived by his son, Timothy Hetrick (special friend, Julie) of Westerville, OH, daughters, Darlene (James) Thompson of London, OH, Elaine (Terry) Hagedorn of South Euclid, OH, and daughter-in-love, Kimberly Davis Hetrick; grandchildren, Caitlyn, Erin (James), Ryan, Rachel, Olivia, Natalie and Benjamin; great grandchildren, Jordyn, Brayden and Callum; sister, Mary Ellen Halpin of Cincinnati, OH; step brothers, William Krieger of Oak Harbor, Thomas (Becky) Krieger of Jonesborough, TN, and Richard (Shelia) Krieger of Maumee. He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, Helen Krieger Hetrick, brother-in-law, Joseph Halpin, step sister, Sally Krieger Beck, and his grandparents. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m., Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor; a Masonic service will be held at 4:30 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2018, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, with burial to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery.

The family has suggested that memorials for Jack be directed to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor, OH 43449; or the donor’s choice.
