Sue Marie DeMarco, age 75, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at her home in Maumee, OH. Sue was born July 8, 1943 in Toledo to Walter and Coletta Rahman and was a 1961 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Sue was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Parish where she volunteered at the food pantry and in many other capacities.

She was a member of the Christ Child Society where she also worked on projects, and volunteered at the Toledo Hospital and Angie’s Place. She was… Read More » an avid tennis player and a member of Two’s Tennis Club. She also enjoyed golf and pickle ball.

After raising her children, Sue joined the staff at the family business, Vas-ko Company, from where she retired. After retiring, she spent much of her time with family and friends at the lake house on Johnson’s Island, Marblehead. Family was everything to Sue.

She was always present for family gatherings and sporting events of her grandchildren. She also loved to travel and see new things. She was comfortable in any situation and always made those around her feel better.

Sue is survived by her children, Nick DeMarco (Kelly) of Perrysburg, OH, Cindy Gothier (Jim) of Avon, OH, and Angela Shern (Scott) of Holland, OH; and brothers, Jack and Paul Rahman. She was Nana to her grandchildren, Geno, Nicholas, Kristina, and Julia DeMarco, Jack, Amanda, Allison, and Nicole Gothier, and Ellen, Marla, and Grace Shern. Also surviving is her significant other, Mike Smith, who she traveled around the world with and attended the grandchildren’s sports and school events.

He became a very important part of not only Sue’s life but also the lives of Sue’s children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 40 years, Gene, who passed away in 2004; brother, Jim Rahman; and sister-in-law, Virginia Hyslop. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave.

(west of Corey Rd. ). A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018 in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd.
