Geraldine “Gerry” M. Ohlman, of Toledo, Ohio, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Gerry was born on March 18, 1924 in Highland Park, Michigan, the youngest of three daughters, from the union of John W. and Anna Mae (Blanchette) Gardner (Mim & Pip). Gerry spent her formative years growing up in Monroe, Michigan and graduated from Monroe High School in 1942.
She married Lawrence “Bud” Ohlman, the love of her life, on October 25,… Read More » 1947 and celebrated 51 years of marriage until his death in 1999. Gerry played a most active and supportive role as a farmer’s wife and was instrumental in the bookkeeping aspect of a 3rd generation family owned business, Ohlman Farm and Greenhouse; this brought her much joy. She was also an avid reader in her retirement years.
Her Catholic faith, family, kindness and unconditional love of others were the trademarks of her character. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Our hearts are heavy but know that she is at peace and her legacy will live on.
She is survived by her children, Larry (Shari) Ohlman, Debi Moses, Sue (Rick) Fandrey, Mark (Kathleen) Ohlman and Janice Ohlman; sister, Genevieve Cousino of Erie, Michigan; grandchildren, Heather (Jon) Beals, Lawrence J. Ohlman, III, Karrie (Rob) Keleghan, Lindsey (Jim Schoen) Ohlman, Chris Mann, Zak (Jessica) Moses, Scott Fandrey, Nicki (Walt) Gebicki, Dustin (Mindy) Ohlman and Allison (Jon) Levasseur; 11 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Raymond (Toni ) Ohlman of Fort Wayne, Indiana and a host of loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Gerry was preceded in death by her sister, Germaine McMullen; grandson, Ryan Moses and great grandson, Patrick G. Keleghan. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Rd.
) where a Rosary Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Little Flower Church, 5522 Dorr Street, Toledo, OH 43615 with visitation at church from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass. Pastors Dave Nuss and Dan Zak officiating. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Hospice of NW Ohio, Little Flower Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to thank Lisa, Jessica and Jenny, from Hospice of NW Ohio, for their kind and compassionate care throughout Mom’s journey. We would also like to acknowledge Father David Nuss and Sister Constance Marie Suchala of Little Flower Parish, for their constant nurturing of Gerry’s spiritual needs.
Both were a great of comfort to her.
