Obituary for Elizabeth “Betty” Quandt (Harrington) Elizabeth “Betty” Harrington Quandt, 89, formerly of Market Street, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Saturday July 14, 2018 at the Teresian House in Albany, NY. Born in Amsterdam on March 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Victoria Szurek Harrington Betty received her education and graduated from St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam, and was a homemaker. Betty was a former parishioner of St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s Churches in Amsterdam.
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who married Thomas J. Quandt on August 26, 1950. He predeceased her on April 11, 2017. Betty is survived by three sons, Thomas (Mary) Quandt of Saratoga Springs, NY; William (Brooke) Quandt of Scotia, NY; and Mark (Christine) Quandt of Schoharie, NY; two daughters, Patricia Brown and Kathleen Quandt both of Albany, NY; one brother-in-law, Robert (Judith) Quandt of Lake George, NY; twosisters-in-law, Theresa Lozier of Ballston Lake, NY and Mary Quandt of Amsterdam, NY; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Nieces and nephews also survive. Betty was also predeceased by her brother, John Harrington, her sister, Mildred Harrington and her son-in-law, Joseph Brown. Funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, followed at 11:15 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY. Calling hours are Thursday from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the funeral services.
