Elsie I. (Long) Yoder, 87, of Linden, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at her home. Born Feb.

13, 1931 in Hunters Station, Northumberland County, she was a daughter to John and Jennie (Walborn) Long. After graduating from Trevorton High School, she continued her education by finishing a shorthand correspondence course that she was always very proud of talking about. Elsie and her husband, Gerald F. Yoder, were married Sept.

6, 1952 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Williamsport. They traveled to Wisconsin (during Gerald’s military service in the Army), and then returned home to raise a family on their family farm. Her husband, Gerald, preceded her in death on Dec.

21, 2005. She retired from Divine Providence where she spent 40 years as a medical transcriptionist. Elsie enjoyed cooking, country and gospel music, reading (especially her Bible), spelling, and watching the Phillies.

She enjoyed visits from family and friends and always made it a point to touch base with her grandchildren. Surviving, are her sons, Gary J. (Rebecca) of Lewisberry, Marc G. (Stephanie) of Kutztown, David J. (Stacey) of York and John K. (Jean) of Lancaster; her 14 grandchildren, Amelia, Odette, Seth, Andrew, Alyssa, Amy, Sarah, Lauren, Rachel, Malik, Charles, Joshua, Brian, and Sumayah, four sisters Dorothy Martin of Lebanon, Linda Weidner of Middletown, PA, Diane McIntyre of Middletown, DE and Karen Smith of Eagle River Alaska. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Long, sister Nancy McIntyre, and granddaughter Vivianne.

A funeral service to honor the life of Elsie will be held 12 noon, Saturday, September 29 at the Christian Church at Cogan Station, 5904 Lycoming Creek Road, Cogan Station with the Rev. Mark Beard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11-12 at the church Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Church at Cogan Station. The family would like to give great thanks to the many special friends and neighbors who did so much for Elsie throughout her life, you all meant the world to her and her family.
