Emmett’s Obituary EMMETT (“BUS”) WESLEY ROBERTSON, 99, of Bland, VA, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 6, 2019. He was born June 1, 1919, the son of the late Edward & Lou Shelton Robertson. He was a Christian man, and said he gave his heart to the Lord when he was ten and has been living for Him ever since.

He was a proud veteran of the Unites States Army and served during World War II. He was the neighborhood mechanic, an avid reader and enjoyed Dear Abbey columns, often clipping articles out for his family to see. He took care of his body and credited his longevity to eating right and taking his vitamins.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elnora Miller Robertson; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Emmett Robertson, Jr. and James & Pearl Burton Robertson; a son-in-law, Tom Via; three brothers, Charles, Frank and Lacy; and a special niece & her husband, Mary Ann & Lewis Blankenship. Left to cherish his memory are a son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Sue Robertson; daughters, Mary Ruth Robertson and Rebecca Via; one grandson, Gavin Blankenship; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Blankenship, Jenna Blankenship, Jessica Via and India Robertson; five great-grandchildren, Hayden Ferrell, Jay Neal, Bradley Willis, Shyanna Bond and Chase Cregger; three sisters, Ruby, Rita and Bernice; and special nephew, Quinlan Tumblin. Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Josh May officiating.

The committal service will take place at the funeral home with military rites provided by the Bland American Legion Post# 20 and the Bland VFW Post # 7969. He will be buried privately in the Morehead Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until service time, 7:00 p.M. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in his honor to the funeral home, (A.
