Obituary for Erika Lee Peyton Erika Lee Peyton, 18, of Enon and New Carlisle passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in New Carlisle. She was born September 24, 1999 in Springfield and was a senior at Greenon High School, where she was expecting to graduate with honors and perfect attendance this year. She is survived by her loving family: parents, Steven Peyton and Cynthia Peyton (McCloskey); sister Vanessa Burback (Coty); grandparents Helen & Larry McCloskey, Kenneth Peyton; uncles Jeff McCloskey (Dayna), Steve McCloskey (Cindi), Brian Peyton; aunts Becky Dean (Steve) and Chris Peyton; cousins Jeffrey McCloskey (Leah and their children Griffin & Averie), Jessica McCloskey (and her child Ronin), Jennifer McFaddin (Rob and their children Eden & Warren), Jacquelyn Weller (Kenton and their children Jensen & Jaycee), Nichole White (Brandon), Adam Siders, Ella McCloskey, Landon McCloskey, Lilah McCloskey, Sabrina Peyton, Valerie Peyton, Ben Peyton; pets Buddy, Cricket, Oreo, Bilbo, Patches.

Erika was a talented young artist and put her skills to use at Greenon in designing the 2018 senior class shirt, the Winterfest dance tickets, as well as spending far too much time on any class assignment involving drawing, just so she could get it “perfect”. She had an accumulated 3. 9 GPA, was a member of the Spanish Honor Society and also participated as a teacher’s assistant for the last several semesters.

Erika enjoyed spending personal time watching TV shows with her parents (Big Brother, NCIS, Shadow Hunters), calling her sister “weird” for singing/dancing in public, going to the movie theater, riding horses, reading, drawing, and playtime on her laptop (Minecraft, Wizard101, YouTube), but her favorite pass time by far was spending time with her beloved 5-year-old golden retriever “Buddy” (and taking pet pictures, which she shared often with family and friends MaKayla, Rhiannon, and others). Erika often said that if Buddy had been black she would have named him “Shadow” because he was truly just that for her, following her everywhere, not even going to bed until she was ready (although he would fall asleep across her lap, or bury his face behind her back to block out the light). Like the rest of her family, Buddy already misses Erika tremendously, and her absence from our lives will leave a void that cannot be filled.

A visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in Adkins Funeral Home, Enon. A private burial will follow at a later date.
