Ethel M. Gilbert 83, Castalia, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018, in Stein Hospice Care Center. She was born on April 19, 1935 in Vickery, OH to the late Lewis and Pearl (Beatty) Young. Ethel was a member of Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, loved sewing, going to Amish Country, her families Ancestry, and being a loving mother and grandmother to all her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Penny (Alan) Bodi, Bay View, Rebecca (Jim) Maldonado and Rachel (Rob) Massey, both of Castalia; sons, Howard (Donna) Gilbert Jr. and Marty (Jacqueline) Gilbert, both of Shepherdsville, KY, and Wesley (Christine) Gilbert, Sandusky; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard “Slick” Gilbert Sr. in 2000; her parents; twin granddaughters, Faith and Hope Decker; sisters, Dorothy Olivares and Evelyn Pocock; brothers, Thomas, Fred, Frank, Ernest, Jimmy, Johnny, and William Young. Friends may call on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, from 4-7 P.M. and on Thursday from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 A.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave.

, Sandusky. Rev. Ryan Brown will officiate.

Burial will follow in Castalia Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Ethel’s name may be made to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. Condolences and gifts of sympathy may be made to the family by visiting toftfuneralhome.com.
