Obituary for Eugene “Gene” Banker Eugene O. “Gene” Banker, Jr., 83, passed away surrounded by his family at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday September 12, 2018 at Centre Crest Nursing Home. Born March 10, 1935, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Eugene O. and Gertrude M. (Gochnaur) Banker. Gene will be remembered and missed by his children, Chris Kyper, of Pittsburgh, Deb Becker and husband Kerry, of State College, Amy Banker, of West Chester, and Mark Banker and wife Sara of State College; Grandchildren, Dr. Rachael Westover and husband Dan of Pittsburgh, Sarah Falso and husband Chris, of Colorado, Capt.

Matthew Kyper and wife Brenna, of Missouri, Zach Becker, and Alec Becker all of State College, Nick Myers, of West Chester, Luke Banker, and Clare Banker all of State College; and one sister, Jane Banker-Bowen, of West Chester. Gene was a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, receiving a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. Before his retirement, Gene served as chief of property services for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission in Pleasant Gap.

He was a member of Harry’s Valley Rod and Gun Club, and an avid hunter and fisherman. Earlier in life, he enjoyed running and all kinds of sports, especially Penn State Wrestling. Most of all, Gene enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

All services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of The Barr Funeral Home Inc. and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown. Gene’s family would like to thank the staff at The Oaks Assisted Living Facility, and Centre Crest Nursing Home for the superior care they provided their loved one.
